| There are lots of companies that offer
cheerleading camps, and also many different
types of camps. Here are some things to consider
when determining what type of camp is right for
you and which company is best.
What Type of Camp?
Normally, entire squads attend camp together.
However, if you do not have a squad to go with,
look for local camps and clinics sponsored by
youth groups or companies in your area.
For squads, you have a choice between home or
private camps (where instructors come to you)
and group camps (where you go and stay at the
camp location). Both of these types of camp are
very useful. We recommend a private camp
if:
- You have a small budget and would like to
save money. Private camps are usually
cheaper because there are no room and board
fees. However, if your squad is small, you
may find a group camp to be reasonable.
- You have very specific needs that may not
be part of the curriculum at a group
camp.
- You need to have the camp on very specific
dates. Private camps, if scheduled early,
can meet specific scheduling needs.
Group camps are recommended when:
- You feel your squad will benefit from the
experience of seeing other squads, meeting
other cheerleaders and competing (to a
limited extent).
- It is part of another event that you would
like to attend.
- It is within commuting distance of your
home (which means you don't have to pay the
room and board fees).
